The Governors of Ashdown Technology College wish to announce that our Headteacher, Mrs Liz Jones will be retiring at the end of March 2012.
Mrs Jones has been with us since 2006 and has seen the school through both good and challenging times. She leaves it with record GCSE results and a new building programme successfully negotiated and started. It is an exciting time for the school which needs to build on and develop these sound improvements. Mrs Jones is leaving an excellent opportunity for her successor.
I am sure you will want to join us in wishing her a long and happy retirement with continuing good health to make the most of it.
The Governors have started the search for her successor and will keep everybody informed of progress. Mrs Jones will remain in post and will continue to work with the same level of energy and commitment for another term.

Record results at Ashdown
Ashdown students have broken the school records with outstanding GCSE results. 74% of students gained passes in 5 or more top grade GCSEs, exceeding last years results by 16%. There was also a dramatic rise with 47% of students gaining 5 or more GSCEs at grades A*-C, including English and Mathematic, 12% higher than last year.
Liz Jones, Headteacher, said:“These are fabulous results and reflect the hard word and determination of our students and staff. I am very proud of their achievements.”
31 students gained 12 or more GSCEs at grades A*-C, with many students gaining A*, A and B grades. Many of these students are moving on to complete higher courses at Ashdown and other local schools and colleges. This is a great boost for the school, which has just begun a £15m building project, to create a “state of the art” learning environment, which will be completed in 2013.
